Southern Pines is characteristic of a humid subtropical climate zone, and weather conditions in the community tend to be moderate year round. For this reason, residents frequently invest in both home air conditioning and heating systems. Summer weather in Southern Pines can be oppressively hot and humid, and without an efficient air conditioning system in place, heat-related illnesses could become a real concern, especially for the elderly and people with chronic medical conditions.

During the winter, temperatures tend to be mild and can reach the low-50s during the day. However, overnight lows can fall below the freezing point, and a heat pump or furnace is a necessity during these times. Not only could home temperatures plummet to dangerously low levels without this appliance in place, but plumbing and pipework could also be susceptible to damage.
